ELGIN YOUTH CAFE TESTIMONIAL

When we found out about our nomination to be one of the charities to benefit from the Gordonstoun Highland Games we were delighted! As a charity we rely on the generosity of funders and donations and so we are incredibly grateful to have had the support of the games. However, we didn’t just benefit monetarily. The games gave us a platform to shout about what we do and spread the word about our projects, services and activities to a new audience.

We really enjoyed our time at the games and felt welcome. We were so impressed by how many people stopped to hear our story and learn about our work; it was clear that for this community the games weren’t just a great day out it was a way of coming together for good causes.

We used the generous donation towards the costs of our most popular session – Eat, Chat, Chill. Every week we provide a free, two course meal to every attendee in our safe space where they can socialise, make friends and have fun! The cost-of-living crisis has impacted on so many and there is often a real stigma about needing support – by making our provision free and open to all 11–18-year-olds we remove that barrier.

Thanks to your support and the contribution it made to the costs of Eat, Chat, Chill we were able to provide 3500 meals to 250 young people. It also allowed us to reach more young people as these sessions often act as an entry point to our services, allowing us to identify need and provide longer term support through other projects and interaction with our youth workers.

Thank you to the Gordonstoun Highland Games, we truly appreciate your generosity. EYDG encourages everyone to support the event which had a real impact on our charity last year, it is a great opportunity to invest in local causes while enjoying an amazing event!”

Moray Food Plus Testimonial

“We were delighted to be selected as one of the chosen charities for the Gordonstoun Highland Games. As a charity we rely heavily on community donations, and it was also beneficial for us to be able to attend and highlight the work that we do. The donation received supported our foodbank service and enabled us to purchase stock – we currently spend around £3,000 per month on stock to ensure we can meet the demand, so the amount donated made a big difference to us. It was lovely to attend on the day and see the community come together with such generous spirit supporting everyone involved.”
